LUCKLAND MOBILE BETTING APP REVIEW

Luckland is a well-established casino brand that was launched back in 2015. The sportsbook section of the site, however, is a relatively new development, having been added early in 2022, making it one of the newer sports betting platforms to enter the competitive UK market.

AG Communications Limited – a Malta-based corporation and operator of several top betting apps, such as Mr Play or Bettarget – operates the Luckland website in the United Kingdom. Many people who have dealt with online betting will be familiar with the company, as AG Communications operates a number of combined online sportsbooks and casino sites in the UK.

Luckland itself has a similar appearance and structure to many of those popular sibling sites. In this review though, you’ll learn everything you need to know about the Luckland app specifically. We’ll go through its features, promotions, betting markets, and much more, all in an effort to help you decide whether this app is for you.

Luckland New Sign Up Offer

Like just about all sports betting companies, Luckland offers a deal for new customers, which takes the form of a free bet. In this case, the bonus consists of a £10 Free Bet token, for those who sign up for a new account and make a total of £15 in qualifying bets. On the surface this deal certainly seems simple, but there are some notable terms and conditions:

As with a lot of welcome bonus offers, the Luckland sign up offer has both its strengths and weaknesses. The level of the bonus is relatively small by modern industry standards, both in terms of the total amount and the percentage comparison to the initial deposit. In addition, the odds requirement for both the qualifying bets and the free bet is a little higher than we’re used to seeing, at 2.00 and 1.80 respectively.

One of the main positives here is the lack of a wagering requirement, which is a common flax in many welcome offers. There’s also a relatively long usage period – we’ve seen plenty of welcome bonuses that impose a seven day time limit before the bonus becomes void, so Luckland’s 14-day limit is certainly an improvement by comparison.

Luckland Mobile App

There is currently no separate, downloadable Luckland betting app available for iOS or Android users, which is not that unusual for a new brand. In fact, Luckland’s parent company – AG Communications – has launched multiple other betting sites in recent years without including an app. While this may be inconvenient for some sports betting fans, advances in technology mean that modern sites such as Luckland can offer platforms that run smoothly on all mobile browsers.

In this case, the Luckland mobile user interface is clean, simple, and contemporary. We took the time to test the site on both smartphone and tablet, and it quickly adapted to the varying screen sizes in both cases. The site itself worked smoothly, both through WiFi and mobile data connections. The pages loaded quickly enough, the primary functions were responsive, and there were no obvious glitches or bugs.

Other Luckland Apps

Luckland offers a comprehensive casino area, in addition to its sports betting mobile website. You may quickly move between these using your mobile browser, and you can use the same account for both.

The Luckland casino app has a large number of games and features. There are several slots, jackpots, and casino games such as blackjack and poker to choose from. Luckland also offers bonus deals for its casino players, such as ongoing slot tournaments, which add an extra dimension to the playing experience.

Advantages of Luckland Betting App

The Luckland mobile browser app is not immediately eye catching, but – while it isn’t a flashy online betting platform – it is one of the most user-friendly we’ve reviewed. In addition to this, it also offers access to a decent selection of features, as you can see below.

Efficient Interface

A betting app doesn’t have to dazzle you with its novelty and innovation. As punters, after all, what we really want is to be able to swiftly and easily identify the markets we’re interested in, then make our bets.

The Luckland platform’s designers have obviously focused on this core quality, and they’ve done an excellent job of creating a streamlined, user-friendly platform that is easy to navigate, even for beginners. Finding the sport and exact event you want to bet on is simple, whether using the dropdown menus or the handy search option. After that, placing bets takes mere seconds, and accessing special discounts, customer service, and other features is just as straightforward.

Good Choice of Markets

It’s always important for new betting platforms to appeal to as many people as possible, and Luckland has checked this box in a big way. At the time of writing, there are more than 30 different sports available to customers, with over 1,000 markets on some of the bigger events.

We were also impressed with the sheer variety of markets on offer, which covers a good range of betting options. These range from standard markets, such as Tournament Winner and Match Result, to more obscure and specialised markets. Overall, this means that – whatever your angle or preferred betting approach – Luckland will have you covered.

Competitive Odds

The odds are one of the first things we look at when we come across any new betting app. After all, no matter how good your betting picks are, if the prices you’re being offered aren’t competitive, then your potential winnings will always be limited.

With Luckland, we’re happy to say that this isn’t a problem. We compared many of their odds on the most popular markets to those offered by their rivals, and  found these prices to be nearly equal to – or even better than – the others in most cases. Importantly, this includes the odds available on live betting markets.

Helpful Customer Service

Another area where betting applications have historically disappointed is in customer service. As a newer UK site though, Luckland actually follows the pleasing recent trend of focusing strongly on providing good support.

On Luckland, customer service is easy to both find and use. You can contact the support team through email or live chat options, while the document uploader for verifying your identity runs smoothly, as on all AG Communications sites. Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the customer support at Luckland, which is staffed by well-trained and helpful operators.

Luckland Betting Features

As mentioned above, the UK sports betting sector is extremely competitive. No new betting app can afford to fall short when it comes to additional features to supplement the basic betting options. And, at Luckland, there are two features in particular that sports betting fans will appreciate.

In-Play Betting

In-play betting is a huge part of the modern sports betting sector, and no new sports betting site can afford to overlook it. While there are admittedly better live betting apps out there, Luckland’s in-play betting platform is still solid and reliable, covering most of the main options.

When you click on the Sports tab at the top of the Luckland home page, the live betting markets will be the first thing that you see. That’s especially handy for fans of this form of betting, enabling you to get straight to the action. There is a clear toolbar of all the various sports that are currently in-play (though the default display is football), and below that another section providing details of upcoming games.

As for the live coverage itself, there is a good range of markets, covering all of the top sports and leagues. As you would expect though, there are fewer options than with the fixed odds markets. The prices are quick to update, and appear to be competitive by the standards of the modern live betting sector. Crucially, our live wagers were also processed extremely quickly during our testing for this review.

One area for potential improvement here is the lack of live streaming. While it is not always possible for every site to obtain the full slate of streaming coverage, being able to provide some options for customers to view the events they are betting on would be welcome. Overall, however, Luckland still provide a functional and effective in-play betting service that handles the basics well.

Cash Out Tool

In-play and cash out should go hand in hand on mobile sportsbooks that take live betting seriously. Not only should you be able to place live bets – you should also be able to cancel them at any time too. Luckland, for the most part, allows you to do just that.

You can check out your active wagers in the ‘Betting History’ area of your bet slip after placing a wager, and – if you see the Cash Out sign – you can activate it on that market. Not all of your bets will be eligible here, since – as with all bookies – it will depend on the present condition of the game, the bet type you’ve chosen, and so on. In comparison to other apps though, Luckland does a decent job of keeping this option open.

The cash-out prices you’re offered are obviously dynamic, and they vary regularly. During our testing of the app, though, the odds appeared to be competitive, and we didn’t encounter too many instances where the Cash Out option was ‘greyed-out’ and unavailable.

Overall, if the Cash Out option is a crucial part of your betting strategy, then you won’t be disappointed by this Luckland betting feature.

Features Overview

While the two Luckland features detailed here are welcome, they are also fairly standard for the sports betting industry. If Luckland want their app to compete on a more equal footing, we definitely feel that they need to up their game in terms of the features they offer. Live streaming, in-play stats, a bet builder and other tools would all be welcome additions to this platform.

Luckland Markets

Luckland offers more than 30 different sports to gamble on. This certainly represents some solid coverage, although we have come across sites with 40+ available sports. As you would expect, all of the key markets – including football, tennis, basketball, golf, boxing and horse racing – are covered. The actual depth of those markets is usually strong too, although this does depend on the sport involved.

A notable feature of the sports market variety at Luckland is the layout of the various betting categories. The design of the site is crisp and clear and has a professional appearance, as well as making it easy to find the sports, events and markets that you are interested in.

With all that said, let’s look a little closer at some of Luckland’s most notable offerings.

Football

No betting app aimed at the UK market would get far if it didn’t provide solid football coverage. Luckland, backed by the experience of AG Communications, has clearly been designed with football in mind, providing excellent coverage of the beautiful game.

The football coverage on the Luckland app is comprehensive to say the least. All of the major international, continental, and domestic leagues are covered, but lesser-known competitions also receive impressive attention. The number of different bet kinds is also significant, with a single Premier League encounter offering well over 300 different betting options.

The in-play football coverage at Luckland may lack the kind of slick support we are used to seeing at other sites, but – if you are a pre-match football punter – you will be well-served by the Lackland football betting platform, whatever level of the game you follow.

Horse Racing

If football is king in UK betting, then the other essential component for a successful UK-focused betting site is to provide strong coverage of horse racing. Luckland doesn’t fall short in this area either.

There are in fact two horse racing categories on the left-hand side of the Luckland home page. These offer a selection of the day’s races, separated by nation, as well as a dedicated antepost horse racing section, which is ideal for those who focus on predicting the winners of the big races days or weeks in advance.

The coverage itself is solid, if a little basic. Their odds seem to be in line with the industry standard, and we were definitely impressed with the dedicated ante-post section. Finally, there is also some coverage of US racing, for those who like to follow the action from across the Atlantic.

Tennis

Tennis may not have quite the same profile as football, but it is a fast-growing sector of the sports betting world. That’s certainly not surprising, since the all-year-round schedules on both the ATP and WTA Tours means that there is always plenty of tennis action for fans to bet on.

The good news for tennis fans is that Luckland provides excellent coverage, and not just on the Grand Slam events. You can find individual match markets as well as tournament outrights for all of the popular events, as well as an in-depth live tennis betting section, which offers the full range of in-play tennis bets including Next Set Winner and Next Game Winner.

Other Sports

The sports betting world has grown rapidly over the last few years. Nowadays, sports betting customers have come to expect the opportunity to bet on a huge choice of sports, from athletics to volleyball.

On the Luckland app, we found markets available for relatively obscure sports such as futsal and water polo, along with good coverage of other popular European sports, such as handball, ice hockey and Gaelic sports. Fans of US sports betting will also be pleased at the range of betting options provided, which includes strong coverage of the NBA, MLB and NFL.

Finally, it is good to see an ostensibly mainstream sports betting site taking eSports seriously. While this is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the sports betting world, it is often overlooked by UK companies, so it was good to see that Luckland provides markets on League of Legends, Dota 2, Starcraft and CS:GO.

Luckland Ongoing Promotions

The comparative lack of promotions aimed at sports betting customers, compared to those provided for casino players, is an ongoing problem with some sports betting sites. Unfortunately, Luckland falls into that category too. This is no doubt due in part to the fact that the site was originally a casino-based operation, and has only belatedly added sports betting options.

Their promotions section lists only three sports-related deals, but this includes their Cash Out tool, which we would obviously not regard as a special offer. That said, we did find one sports betting related promotion for existing customers (in addition to the welcome bonus) on the Luckland site, which will appeal to those who like to bet on multiples.

Combo Bet Boosts

Multiples betting is always popular with UK sports betting fans, as it offers the chance to land a big prize for a relatively small stake, although this form of betting admittedly doesn’t usually produce regular wins. Also known as accas – or other names, depending on how many selections are included – these bets combine several selections, sometimes across different sports.

Luckland, like many other bookmakers, recognises this popularity, and has an interesting multiples bet feature. While some bookmakers opt to offer what is known as Acca insurance (refunding your bet stake if just one of the selections loses), Luckland have opted for another approach instead, by offering a bet boost.

Essentially, the odds on your multiples or combo bet here will be increased by a set amount, according to the number of selections that are included in the bet. For instance, the lowest level of boost is available for fourfold bets, at 4%, but this increases all the way up to 77% for a 15-selection bet.

There are some terms and conditions attached, including the stipulation that all of the bets involved have to be at odds of 1/2 or higher, and that only pre-event bets can be included. This is still a handy feature though, that will be appreciated by those who regularly bet on multiples.

Luckland Deposit Options and Banking

Given the variety of payment options available in 2022, it is natural for sports betting customers to expect their preferred methods to be available at any site they use. When it comes to the UK betting sector though, the strict financial rules imposed by regulators (which we welcome) tends to lead to a smaller section of deposit and withdrawal options than with overseas sites.

Luckland provides for the use of six different deposit methods, which is slightly low for a modern betting site, although it does cover most of the popular options. It is good to see that there are no fees applied by the operator for making any deposits or withdrawals, and the minimum deposit is set at £10 for most options, although customers depositing with PayPal will have to make a minimum deposit of £20.

One notable feature of the Luckland banking platform is the variety of currencies offered. If you are using Visa or Mastercard, you can actually use up to 11 different currencies, which is handy for those who prefer to make deposits and bets in currencies other than GBP.

The same range of banking options are largely available for making withdrawals from the Luckland site, although it is important to note that you will generally be expected to make withdrawals using the same method that you used for your deposits. You may also have to provide e-copies of documents to verify your identity before you are able to make your first withdrawal.

As with the deposit service, there is no fee when you make a withdrawal from Luckland. The processing time can be up to 48 hours though, which is a little high for our liking, particularly since you’ll usually need to then add more time for the payment provider to complete the transaction.

Luckland Deposit Methods

Payment Option Fee Time Minimum (£)
Visa/Mastercard 0% Instant £10
PayPal 0% Instant £20
Paysafecard 0% Instant £10

Much Better 0% Instant £10

Luckland Withdrawal Methods

PayPal Up to 48 hours Up to 3 days £10
Trustly Up to 48 hours Up to 3 days £10
Much Better Up to 48 hours Up to 3 days £10
Instant Banking Up to 48 hours Up to 3 days £10

Customer Support

It is sometimes easy to overlook a site’s customer support service when you’re weighing up its pros and cons, but having access to efficient and convenient customer service is an important aspect of any site’s overall quality, and we always give this area plenty of scrutiny.

Luckland’s customer service department is available seven days a week, but only for 16 hours every day, from 08:00 to 00:00. Given that the casino is open 24 hours a day, and that the sportsbook offers markets throughout the night, this is slightly surprising and we would expect Luckland to move to a more comprehensive 24-hour service at some point.

In terms of contacting the team, your options are to use the live chat facility or the email link. Both methods produce a fairly quick response, and – although there is no telephone contact option – site users can take advantage of an impressive FAQ section, which provides in-depth information covering everything from banking to betting market rules.

Security and Safety

One of the best ways for customers to reassure themselves about a betting site’s security and safety is to check out the licenses held by the operators. These can give a good indication of how legitimate an operator is, and how hard they have had to work to earn their licence. In this case, Luckland holds licenses with the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. These are two of the world’s most respected gaming regulators, both of which demand a high level of customer protection, fairness and security from their licensees.

Although owned by a company called Grasswood, the Luckland site is operated by AG, whose casino and sportsbook software has been used to craft hundreds of casino and sports betting sites. They use high-standard encryption tools to keep your data safe, and we were pleased to see that the Luckland site provides plenty of details on the security measures that they use to keep your data and financial transactions safe, including the use of 128-bit SSL encryption.

About Luckland

Luckland has technically been around for several years as a casino brand, but AG Communication – which is famous for combining casino and sports betting products successfully – was always likely to add a sports betting component to the platform. This was duly launched earlier in 2022.

AG have a solid reputation in the European and global betting markets, and run their own-brand gaming sites as well as operating sites for other companies. In fact, our research suggested that there are at least 90 sites around the world that are run by AG, underlining their vast experience in the sector.

Bottom Line

It is difficult for a new betting app to get any attention in the competitive UK sports betting market, which is dominated by some historic global brands. Finding a new angle is all but impossible, and AG have not tried to reinvent the wheel when it comes to Luckland’s sports betting model.

To an extent, some of the shortcomings of the mobile site may be down to its relatively recent launch in 2022, and these are likely to be addressed over the coming months. The absence of live streaming of any sport is disappointing, albeit not unusual in a sector where sports broadcasting rights are highly sought after. However, that doesn’t explain the lack of any in-play data to help guide live betting fans – a common on newer betting apps, including those that can’t offer live streaming.

There are other, minor, issues too, such as the relatively small number of payment options, and the lack of ongoing sports betting promotions. Finally, the welcome bonus is not particularly eye-catching.

That said, it is clear that the Luckland sports betting site designers have focused on the essential areas of mobile website design, market and sport coverage and good customer support. The site is pleasing to use, and there is plenty of depth of sports coverage here, no matter what your preferred sport or market, while the Luckland odds are also competitive.

Overall then, the Luckland mobile site is not spectacular, but it won’t let you down. With further improvements (which we’d expect sooner rather than later), and especially the addition of a dedicated app, it could certainly rise even higher up the league table of UK betting platforms.
